The House Dust Mite
How to Control Dust Mites | Allergies & Dust Mites
I don't know about you, but whenever anyone talks about dust mites living in your pillow, on your mattress, bedding and carpets, I just feel replusion. The thought of "them" living on/in your pillow by the millions, eating your dead skin is enough to make your feel quite ill.
What are dust mites?
These little bugs are so small, microscopically small. They live on dead skin cells which we humans and animals shed. They do not carry diseases BUT can cause allergic reactions in people suffering from asthma. Did you know that a mattress can contain millions of dust mites (these are not the same as Bed Bugs - another topic altogether) One single dust mite can produce 20 waste droppings each day - think about it, how many droppings is that? It is these droppings that cause the many people to have an allergic reaction ranging from asthma attacks, itchy eyes, nose, skin, the list is endless. This is what the little mites look like under a microscope.

Detection
How would you know if you had dust mites? Well dust mites are present anyway, it's just when you start suffering from ill health that people do something about it.
How do you control them?
The most obvious is to regularly wash your bedding. It is advisable to replace your pillows every so often. Wash soft furnishings on a monthly basis. Cuddly toys on children beds should be washed once a month on a hot cycle (not always possible but advisable). Vacuum cleaning helps to get rid of the fine dust. I have also heard that keeping a plastic back mattress topper is ideal on beds. Your carpets and upholstery should be cleaned professionally. At RPC Cleaning we specialise in dry carpet cleaning. As a company we are excited about investing and training in a product called Max Fibre Shield. This product is a totally environmentally friendly protector with a built-in microbial treatment which can be used anywhere quite harmlessly for more info please click ,

Office Commercial Cleaners London - First Impressions Count
Workplace Cleaning | Carpet Cleaning | Office Cleaning Contract |
How your office looks is just as important as how it functions. When people visit an office they instantly form an opinion about you - you know the old classic saying FIRST IMPRESSIONS count! So making a good first impression really does matter.
I recently attended a seminar and the speaker talked about first impression with new or potential clients. Most companies focus on getting their brochures looking fantastic, their business cards and leaflets are perfect. But what do people think when they turn up to your building? Do they see a few staff outside the front door having a cigarette with no where to dispose of them when they are finished? The windows look like they need a good clean, the reception area looks welcoming with flowers and a smiling receptionist but the carpets or floor area look unkept and dirty like they need a really good clean. You are led to the meeting room along the corridor where the flooring looks tired and grubby and the room looks un-kept.Immediatley you have made a mental opinion of the company. So do you after the meeting think twice about asking to use the washroom!?
If you are looking to make a lasting impression and require a cleaning company with over 30 years experience then please look no further. At RPC Cleaningwe follow guildines for cleaning and comply with all Health and Safety Regulations.
RPC Cleaning provides cleaning services to commercial properties throughout London. From a once a day to weekly cleaning, our cleaning services are tailored to our clients needs

Advise on Removing Chewing Gum from Carpets
How do I get Chewing Gum out of Carpets | How do you remove Chewing Gum from Carpets | Gum removal from Carpets London Area
How do you remove Chewing Gum from Carpets?
I often get asked the question "what advice would you give on removing chewing gum from carpets". I have read and heard of people using ice cubes to harden the gum and then cut the harden gum from the carpet, nail polish remover, peanut butter, WD40 and even warm vinegar.
Essentially there are three ways I know of for tackling chewing gum (although there maybe more).
Some manufacturers have produced equipment designed to remove chewing gum which I have never used but I believe these machines can sometimes damage carpets or leave ugly residue marks and not be that effective.
- There are aerosols out there that freeze the gum and then you chip away at the gum to pick it of the carpet. I use to use this method many years ago but it was very slow and there was always a chance that you cut away some of the carpet too.
- These days I use a gel remover. The method is that you first score the gum with a blade and then cover the gum with the gel and leave it to work. The gel infiltrates the gum and removes it from the carpet. I then use a terry toweling cloth to remove the gel and the gum by simply wiping it away, if there is any gum residue left I can easily remove it with a solvent spotter. For me this is not only the easiest way it is also the most effective and the safest way to remove chewing gum.
If you are looking to have any gum removed from your carpets, please give RPC Cleaning a call on 0208 994 4778.

RPC Cleaning Titanic Blog
RPC Cleaning Services | Titanic 100th Anniversary
Well everyone is talking, writing and blogging about the Titanic so I thought I would add my thoughts too!
We all know the tragic story that happended one hundred years ago this week more than 1000 men, women and children died in terrifying circumstances on RMS Titanic. And I read with interest how people are coming up with unique ways to commemorate the event. We remain thoroughly fasicinated by it. For instance a cruise set sail from Southampton at the weekend - MS Balmoral with the exact amount of passengers, some being descendants of passengers who died on the Titanic.
The cruise will try follow the exact route of the Titanic, although there have been a few hick-ups such as being delayed due to 30ft waves as it crossed the Irish Sea and a guest having to be air lifted due to illness. But it is still scheduled to arrive at the wreck site in time for the memorial service at the weekend. So apart from following the exact route, passengers will be served the same meals, use simialr cutlery and china plates from 100 years ago and listen to music from that period. Passengers even wore period costumes as they boarded MS Balmoral.
Some people are apprehensive - is this done in bad taste? Passengers who were interviewed on this ship seem to disagree, apparently it has been reported that the cruise has been done tastefully and remembering those who died is not morbid.
I also read "Five Titanic Myths spread by films" on the BBC website
So as a final thought we should remember that the sinking of the Titanic was no film but very real and people drowned and froze to death in awful circumstances.
